Spring Season 2022 Welcome Announcement

Dear HSC Parents,

Welcome to the 2022 Outdoor Spring Soccer Season!

As a reminder, practice starts this week for some teams and next week for most teams.  Your team’s practice schedule is current and has been updated in TeamSnap.

The club is excited about our growth and emergence from the challenges of past and recent public health crises and challenges.

We are currently at 24 travel teams (includes festival teams through High School Ages), and 2 Pre-Kickers age groups, all formed by our over 325 plus members and 250 plus families.

Winter training has been completed and our last rounds of winter indoor league make up games are concluding the weekend.  A big thank you to everyone who actively participated in the winter activities; our spring teams will benefit significantly.

Please take the time to read below, complete the action items required and familiarize yourself with what to expect as we get up to speed and get going this spring!  It is very important to add this email address ([email protected]) to your safe senders list and/or add to your contacts to ensure you receive our communications and these messages do not get lost or filter out as spam.

Training Location and Turf Rental
For most teams, HSC mid-week training will be at Iron Peak located at 137 Mountain View Rd, Hillsborough Township, NJ 08844.   For older age teams, training will also be located at Hillsborough High School Stadium Turf located at 466 Raider Blvd, Hillsborough Township, NJ 08844.

Please note with the demand for turf rental space at Iron Peak for the month of March, take a close look at each training session's location in your TeamSnap location details as it may vary based on what we were given to rent and able to assign based on team age and size.   There will be changes in turf field locations as we have more turf rental in April, May, and June than we have in March. For your convenience you will find a detailed turf location in TeamSnap to help you identify which turf you are assigned.
Please ensure you have the latest version of TeamSnap. Download/update it to ensure all current functionality of the app.  A troubleshooting reminder is to occasionally log out and sign back in if you’re not getting or seeing updates.

All returning players have TeamSnap accounts from last season.

All new players were sent TeamSnap invitations and are reminded to accept them and set-up your account.  This will enable you to see the roster and training and game schedules. For TeamSnap account support please contact your team parent coach/manager and if additional support is needed, contact [email protected]

Parking Lot Safety
Please use extra caution and drive slowly during drop off and pick up times at Iron Peak.  For those parents that are waiting and staying during their player(s) training sessions, we kindly ask that you park in the second row, NOT the closest spaces along the fields.  This will free up congestion and allow for greater visibility of children coming and going and more spaces to pull in and drop off children safely.

Health Check
HSC is temporarily suspending the use of Health Check due to the low public health COVID rating currently in our area.  Common sense and courtesy still apply so do not attend a practice if you do not feel well or you have any doubts about your health status.  While we hope this temporary suspension of using Health Check remains in place, HSC may start using it again if public health conditions warrant a change.

Work Bond
This spring season we will be offering numerous work bond opportunities to fulfill each family's 4 hour requirement. Keep on the lookout for opportunities and sign-up via Sign up Genius. They are first come first serve basis.

Our HSC work bond coordinator is [email protected]

We have several unfilled board positions and non-board positions that are work bond exempt. Please reach out if interested to [email protected] to inquire about opportunities.

Volunteer Parent Managers, once appointed and approved by the HSC board, will receive work bond refunds starting in the middle of spring seasons to ensure the role has been substantially fulfilled.  Questions about Volunteer Parent Managers work bond refund can be directed to [email protected]

Your professional head coach along with and manager are in the process of scheduling games which will be entered into TeamSnap.  Games as released by each team’s assigned league (MNJYSA, EDP and/or Festival) will be populated in your TeamSnap account, but are required to be confirmed by your coach and manager. Games logistics will be subject to change based on trainer, player, field, and referee availability.

Tournaments/State Cups
Many of our teams have already competed in tournaments, state cup, and more this past fall and winter.  The remaining teams are encouraged to participate in a minimum of one tournament with a professional trainer that will be provided by the club.  It is up to the individual team coach and parent manager to select a tournament and work with the club for registration and payment.  Additional tournament activity is encouraged, and they would be an additional team expense.

Goalkeeper Training
Goalkeeper training provided by the club at no additional cost will begin in April.  Further details on the schedule for that will be forthcoming.   If your child is a Goalkeeper, she or he should be in the Goalkeeper TeamSnap group.  If you wish your child to participate in Goalkeeper training please email [email protected] to add your child to the Goalkeeper TeamSnap account to view the whole training schedule and any further communication from the coach.

Ball Mastery and Shooting Clinics (Supplemental Training)
We are adding our Spring 2022 supplemental training for those parents/players who are looking for additional technical skill development through our supplemental extra skills clinics (Ball Mastery and Shooting).  This training is not included in your club fees and is at an additional cost and will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

Why participate in our clinics?
We know players are eager to get the most out of the season and want to improve their individual technical abilities.  With our Ball Mastery and Shooting Clinics your child will learn more about individual skills with plenty of repetition to allow the player to feel more confident with the ball.  Players will learn ball skills such as 1v1 moves, juggling, first touch, passing and receiving, lofted passes, driven shoots, placement shots, finishing techniques, volley shots and more.

These clinics are open to HSC members and Non-HSC members born in 2014 (U8) through 2006 (U16)
